Cinco Puntos Press (CPP) is an independent children's and literary press that specializes in publishing literature from the U.S./Mexico border, Mexico and the American Southwest. We are particularly well-known for our bilingual children's books (K-8) that are culturally relevant to the Latino community. In 1987, two years after we started publishing, Cinco Puntos Press had the good fortune to publish Joe Hayes' bilingual classic La Llorona, the Weeping Woman, our first children's book (85,000 in print). That little paperback has contributed so much to our success that we call ourselves "the house that La Llorona built." Since then, Cinco Puntos Press has distinguished itself by continuing to publish culturally relevant children's titles grown from our bi-lingual and multi-cultural region. These books, because of the Mexican Diaspora throughout the country and the growing national interest in multi-cultural literature, sell well throughout the United States, although their strength is on the West Coast and the Southwest. In recognition of our importance as a voice for this region and our commitment to literature, we have received the American Book Award for Excellence in Publishing and the Rocky Mountain Booksellers' Association Award for Excellence in Publishing, and we have been inducted into the Latino Literary Hall of Fame. Two of our children's titles have been selected for the Texas Bluebonnet Master List.

Full Cast Audio (FCA) has a simple mandate: to produce unabridged recordings of fine children's novels using a full cast rather than a single reader. Whenever possible, we invite the author to serve as narrator. Our recordings are always unabridged-the only things deleted from the text are those attributives ("he said", "she growled", etc.) made unnecessary by having a full complement of actors. Full Cast Audio productions also benefit from age-appropriate casting. As VOYA remarked: "Who would have expected an audiobook publisher to create such a
partnership with youth? To our fragmented world they bring gifts. Commitment. Creativity. Community. Literacy. Merriment. Hope." Find out more at fullcastaudio.com.

Gareth Stevens Publishing is a division of the Weekly Reader Publishing Group which is now part of Reader's Digest Association, Inc.
Groundwood Books, established in 1978, is dedicated to the production of children's books for all ages, including fiction, picture books and non-fiction. We publish in Canada, the United States and Latin America.
Our books aim to be of the highest possible quality in both language and illustration. Many of our books tell the stories of people whose voices are not always heard in this age of global publishing by media conglomerates. Books by the First Peoples of this hemisphere have always been a special interest, as have those of others who through circumstance have been marginalized and whose contribution to our society is not always visible. Since 1998 we have been publishing works by people of Latin American origin living in the Americas. Libros Tigrillo, our Spanish imprint, is part of this venture.
We believe that by reflecting intensely individual experiences, our books are of universal interest. The fact that our authors are now published around the world attests to this and to their quality. Even more important, our books are read and loved by children.
In 2006 we launched a new series, the Groundwork Guides, for young adults. These books present facts and analysis from a well argued point on issues of political and social justice.

Houghton Mifflin Company traces its roots to 1832, when William Ticknor and James Fields joined forces as publishers and booksellers.
Their Boston shop, the Old Corner Bookstore, became a meeting place for the
most influential American writers of the nineteenth century. This was a golden era in American letters, and the firm of Ticknor & Fields published Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, John Greenleaf Whittier, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Oliver
Wendell Holmes, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. When Ticknor died, James Osgood took over the company, and in the late 1870s this organization merged with that of Henry Houghton (who had established the Riverside
Press in 1852), becoming Houghton, Mifflin & Company in 1880.
Today the Trade and Reference Division of Houghton Mifflin publishes approximately four hundred books a year, including adult trade books, Mariner trade paperbacks, the American Heritage® dictionaries, Peterson Field Guides®, Taylor Guides, Kingfisher Books, the Best American Series, Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, Walter Lorraine Books, and Clarion Books.

Sylvan Dell is a young company on a serious mission to create picture books that excite children's imaginations, are artistically spectacular, and have educational value. We have 45 titles in print, 39 of which are available in paperback and we have 11 new titles on track for release in 2010. Sixty-four authors and illustrators are on our team.
All of our books start with fun, warm stories, generally fiction with math, science, or nature themes and are brought to life by art. We then add a 3-5 page "For Creative Minds" section in the back that includes fun facts, crafts, vocabulary and games to reinforce the educational value and to support National Science and Math Standards. Finally, each book is carefully vetted by experts in the field including scientists and educators from NASA, NOAA, SeaWorld, Houston Zoo and various nature centers and aviaries.
The books are wonderful in themselves but what we are really about is our online presence and providing online cross-curricular resources for each title. For teachers with projection or smartboard, or for any child with computer access, our eBooks and free online resources are amazing.
These are not textbooks in the traditional sense but rather fun picturebooks that a child will want to read over and over again. Our science and math learning objectives are there for the taking but the child's reading pleasure is primary. We think having a child excited about a book and its subject enhances the opportunity for parents and teachers to build on that interest and to strike while the learning iron is hot!
