Dr. Cynthia Giorgis

Bio: Cyndi Giorgis is a former elementary teacher and school librarian. She is a professor of children’s and young adult literature and serves as Dean of the College of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. Cyndi has served on the Caldecott, Newbery and Geisel Award Committees and is currently the chair of NCTE’s Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children. She has written numerous curriculum guides for picture and chapter books that are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Cyndi has written articles and presented workshops extensively on integrating literature into the curriculum.
